Read and Rise Volunteer

The Urban League of Middle Tennessee (ULMT) is recruiting volunteers for the Read and Rise Literacy program.  It is a virtual program that includes students at Metro Nashville Public Schools.  Volunteers will tutor kindergarten through third-grade students virtually, using the web-based application, BookNook.  Children, who can be accompanied by a teacher, parent or caretaker during the one-on-one session, will learn phonics, reading comprehension, and play interactive games.  

WHAT TO EXPECT AFTER REGISTRATION? 

• Complete a background check
• Choose an hour-long training session:  September 28th or September 30
• Will need access to a computer and Zoom

Tutoring will begin the week of October 4, and the program will run through the end of the 2021 - 2022 school year. Volunteers must commit one hour each week.
