Join ULMT as we hear from Congressman Jim Cooper about key policy and legislative issues in Washington, D.C.
Congressman Jim Cooper represents Tennessee’s 5th Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives. Now in his seventh term, a New York Times columnist recently called him “the House’s conscience, a lonely voice for civility in this ugly era” and a “tart-tongued moderate” who “seeks bipartisanship on fiscal matters and other issues in a polarized political climate.” USA Today named him one of the “Brave 38” of a “tiny band of heroes” in Congress for his work on bipartisan budget plan.
In Congress, he’s known for his work on national defense, the federal budget, health care and government reform.
Congressman Cooper is the chair of HASC subcommittee on Strategic Forces. Oversees the nation’s nuclear weapons and satellites.
ULMT’s Capitol Connection events give the business community access to elected officials, political leaders, issues, and information. Guest speakers provide political insights at the local, state, and federal levels.
